Our actions have consequences, and we see them clearly when we look at our landscape in Austria. The glaciers are melting in a rapid speed and no matter what we would do in the present, they will be gone by 2075 and Austria will be ice-free. How did it come this far? When did the shift occur that transformed the alps from this untouchable, mighty thing into a land where we can go to by car? The book “Ferner/Kees” explores the history of the relationship between mankind and the mountains and how we changed and domesticated it to fit them into our lives, needs and desires.
